The Wildlife officer( a woman) she went out in the woods and hid the collar, then the class had to use the antena, and it is 3 or so feet across! to find the collar, following the beeps on the unit, when it beeps fast you are closer and slow you are farther away. It was fun and pretty cool!Reddunappyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02789213785183576404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4905830803741462835.post-90049392232227894482010-12-30T16:00:58.100-08:002010-12-30T16:00:58.100-08:00Great pictures! We don't have many around our place because we're surrounded by hunters or gun happy people.

That's interesting with the collar. I've never seen that or heard of it before either!nikkihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14611230432210085172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4905830803741462835.post-3948545330496090922010-12-30T12:49:14.287-08:002010-12-30T12:49:14.287-08:00Beautiful! Strange to see, but it makes sense that they'd want to track them. There was a guy somewhere around here whose job was to go out and find out what had happened when one of the collars stopped moving. (On horseback. I totally want his job). They were tracking cause of death - predation, etc.Andrea -Mustang Sagahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00576342393431178404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4905830803741462835.post-70302388874376013152010-12-30T12:36:53.193-08:002010-12-30T12:36:53.193-08:00Thanks for telling me about that. I'd love to know how far these deer travel and when. :)arlenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09089402069527140627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4905830803741462835.post-57739216704795253012010-12-29T19:57:08.448-08:002010-12-29T19:57:08.448-08:00The wildlife dept will periodicaly put a radio col...The wildlife dept will periodicaly put a radio collar on deer or elk. To track their movements. Incidentaly it isnt illegal to hunt them, but you have to return the collar to the Wildlife dept. At least thats how I understand them.Reddunappyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02789213785183576404noreply@blogger.com
