Cows and horses.

Photobucket

In the calving season when you see a cow off on her own and looking at you like this, it can only mean one thing;

Photobucket

Notice how he's all cosy up against that rock sheltered from the wind.

This other cow wanted some attention so I took her photo. But look whats behind her!

Photobucket

Another calf! It's not hers though. Bobby was chasing rabbits through the sagebrush and he came walking out. His mother was waiting for him. The first cow didn't think much of someone else getting the attention.

Foxsun and Dandylyons spotted me and wouldn't leave me alone.

Photobucket

I gave in and took some photos of them too. Dandylyons's ears were flapping about spoiling the shots.

Photobucket

Her heads too big and my arms are not long enough to get us both in the picture.

Photobucket

Foxsun didn't want to be left out. You can see behind me Dandylyons was still trying to cuddle up.

Photobucket

And that was a typical cold but sunny March day on this Eastern Washington ranch/farm.

Awwww...what cute photos! I love cows! There are some up by the horse ranch, about 7 miles away...LONGHORNS! I love to stop by and keep an eye on them! Thanks for sharing! You must be like me...I hardly ever have a photo of myself! (hehehehehehehe!!!)

Those sure are sturdy little calf legs! So cute!

Do they run around and have calf races when they're just slightly older? My neighbor's calves do that and I love to watch them out my kitchen window.

I love new baby calves. Ours will be coming in a week or so. Black angus.

I love the look of Longhorns. I saw them in Oklahoma last year. You have to have special chutes and head gates to work them though. I hate having my picture taken, but my cow and horse are getting so old I wanted a pic of me with them.

Andrea
The calves form their own little herd and run around like hell. It's so lovely to watch. Some of the more nervous mothers try to run behind mooing.

Our cows are mainly Charolais. (A white French breed). I hold back the smokey colored ones because I think they are friendly, intelligent and wean bigger calves. Some guys around here started calving in January to have older bigger calves in the fall. I think that's a big risk myself. But it must work for them because they keep doing it.

Hi I just found your blog. It's very nice! I agree that Fuglyhorse.com is very mean-spirted towards our Mustangs. I don't think I will be going back there, either!
